Indem wir diese Ressourcen zur Erzeugung von Bioenergie nutzen, verringern wir die Treibhausgasemissionen, vermeiden die Entsorgung von Abf\u00e4llen auf Deponien und schaffen zus\u00e4tzliche Einnahmequellen. Biomasse ist eine erneuerbare Ressource, da sie im \u00dcberfluss vorhanden ist und sich schnell regeneriert. Bei verantwortungsvoller Bewirtschaftung kann Bioenergie kohlenstoffneutral sein. Das bedeutet, dass bei der Umwandlung von Biomasse in Energie zwar Kohlenstoff in die Atmosph\u00e4re freigesetzt wird, der Prozess der Erzeugung von Biomasse jedoch die gleiche Menge an Kohlenstoff aus der Atmosph\u00e4re zieht. W\u00fcrden Biomasse-Ressourcen haupts\u00e4chlich f\u00fcr die Nutzung von Bioenergie angebaut, m\u00fcssten wir gro\u00dfe Mengen an Land und Wasser erhalten. Diese W\u00e4rme wird zur Erzeugung von Dampf genutzt, der eine Turbine antreibt, die mechanische Energie erzeugt, die in Strom umgewandelt wird. Die direkte Verbrennung kann auch zur Raumheizung und Warmwasserbereitung in Geb\u00e4uden eingesetzt werden.<\/p><p><strong>Anaerobe Verg\u00e4rung<\/strong><\/p><p>Bei der Zersetzung von Biomasse werden Methan- und Kohlendioxidgas freigesetzt. Bei der anaeroben Verg\u00e4rung wird Biomasse aus G\u00fclle, Lebensmittelabf\u00e4llen und anderen organischen Materialien in einem luftdichten Beh\u00e4lter ohne Sauerstoff gelagert. Sobald diese Biomasse eingeschlossen ist, wird sie von Bakterien abgebaut, die als Nebenprodukt Gas erzeugen. Dieses Gas wird dann aufgefangen und als erneuerbare Alternative zu Erdgas verwendet.<\/p><p><strong>Kraftstoffumwandlung<\/strong><\/p><p>Biomasse kann auch in Biokraftstoffe umgewandelt werden, die eine Alternative zu fossilen Brennstoffen darstellen. Biomasse kann durch thermochemische Umwandlung, chemische Umwandlung oder biologische Umwandlung in Kraftstoff umgewandelt werden. Bei der thermochemischen Umwandlung wird W\u00e4rme genutzt, um in einem unter Druck stehenden Beh\u00e4lter Brennstoff zu erzeugen. Dieser Brennstoff kann je nach dem genauen Verfahren fest, fl\u00fcssig oder gasf\u00f6rmig sein. Bei der chemischen Umwandlung werden Chemikalien verwendet, um fl\u00fcssigen Kraftstoff zu erzeugen, in der Regel in Form von Biodiesel. Die g\u00e4ngigsten fl\u00fcssigen Biokraftstoffe sind Ethanol, das aus Getreidezucker hergestellt wird, und Biodiesel, der aus nat\u00fcrlichen \u00d6len gewonnen wird. Beide Kraftstoffe sind saubere Alternativen zu Benzin und Dieselkraftstoff. Diese alternativen Kraftstoffe werden oft mit herk\u00f6mmlichen Kraftstoffen gemischt.
