El 11 de febrero es el D\u00eda Nacional de los Inventores. Hoy, la MCE celebra los inventos que han mejorado la forma en que utilizamos la energ\u00eda y el impacto que han tenido en nuestra sociedad. Veamos cuatro inventos que cambiaron la energ\u00eda para mejor.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Bombilla LED<\/b><\/p>\n

La bombilla LED revolucion\u00f3 las bombillas al introducir una bombilla mucho m\u00e1s eficiente energ\u00e9ticamente y de mayor duraci\u00f3n en comparaci\u00f3n con las bombillas incandescentes y fluorescentes. El LED fue introducido por primera vez por Robert Biard y Gary Pittman en 1961 y se puso a disposici\u00f3n del uso cotidiano en 1972. Hoy en d\u00eda, los LED nos ayudan a ahorrar la friolera de 1.000 millones de euros al a\u00f1o. <\/span>75% m\u00e1s energ\u00eda<\/span><\/a> por bombilla y podr\u00eda ahorrar al hogar medio estadounidense hasta un <\/span>$600 al a\u00f1o<\/span><\/a>!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos<\/b><\/p>\n

El primer coche el\u00e9ctrico fue creado por Robert Anderson en 1832. En la actualidad existen alrededor de <\/span>1,6 millones de coches el\u00e9ctricos<\/span><\/a> en las carreteras estadounidenses, de los cuales 1 mill\u00f3n son veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos h\u00edbridos enchufables (VE). Sustituir un coche de gasolina por un VE elimina una media de 4,6 toneladas m\u00e9tricas de contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica. En comparaci\u00f3n, har\u00edan falta casi 2,5 hect\u00e1reas de \u00e1rboles para eliminar esa cantidad de carbono en un a\u00f1o. Para contribuir a la circulaci\u00f3n de veh\u00edculos menos contaminantes, MCE ofrece un <\/span>Reembolso EV<\/span><\/a> para ayudar a los clientes con ingresos cualificados a ahorrar hasta $14.500 en la compra o el arrendamiento financiero de un nuevo VE.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Aerogeneradores modernos<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/b>La energ\u00eda e\u00f3lica se utiliz\u00f3 por primera vez para producir electricidad en 1888. Gracias a los avances en eficiencia y tama\u00f1o, la energ\u00eda e\u00f3lica es ahora una fuente de energ\u00eda muy extendida. Est\u00e1 previsto que la energ\u00eda e\u00f3lica represente m\u00e1s del <\/span>30% de la nueva capacidad de generaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica de EE.UU.<\/span><\/a> en 2021 y, junto con la solar, est\u00e1 previsto que supere a los combustibles f\u00f3siles como principal fuente de combustible en la d\u00e9cada de 2030. Los clientes de MCE que han optado por <\/span>Deep Green<\/span><\/a> 100% servicio de energ\u00eda renovable la mitad de su electricidad procede del viento. La otra mitad procede de la energ\u00eda solar.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Energy Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/b>Combinar la energ\u00eda solar en el tejado con el almacenamiento en bater\u00edas permite utilizar la energ\u00eda generada por la energ\u00eda solar durante la noche o en caso de apag\u00f3n. El almacenamiento de energ\u00eda (com\u00fanmente conocido como bater\u00eda dom\u00e9stica) contribuye a una red energ\u00e9tica m\u00e1s limpia y resistente al convertir la energ\u00eda solar en una fuente de energ\u00eda fiable las 24 horas del d\u00eda. Los sistemas de energ\u00eda solar m\u00e1s almacenamiento se generalizar\u00e1n en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os. De hecho, hasta <\/span>50% de proyectos solares<\/span><\/a> puede incluir el almacenamiento de energ\u00eda para 2030.
