El cambio clim\u00e1tico se refiere a los recientes cambios significativos en los patrones clim\u00e1ticos globales causados por la actividad humana. Mientras que el tiempo puede cambiar cada hora, los cambios clim\u00e1ticos, como los cambios en las temperaturas medias anuales o las precipitaciones estacionales, se producen de forma natural durante largos periodos de tiempo, a veces incluso millones de a\u00f1os.<\/p><p>El cambio clim\u00e1tico es la mayor amenaza a la que se enfrenta el mundo hoy en d\u00eda. Los cambios globales en la temperatura y los patrones meteorol\u00f3gicos han tenido consecuencias catastr\u00f3ficas para el medio ambiente y las poblaciones humanas. Algunos ejemplos son la prolongaci\u00f3n de la temporada de incendios forestales en California, el empeoramiento de las tormentas tropicales en el Golfo de M\u00e9xico y las heladas invernales en la Costa Este. El CO<sup>2<\/sup> han aumentado en <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.nasa.gov\/causes\/\">47%<\/a> desde el inicio de la revoluci\u00f3n industrial. En el mismo periodo, las temperaturas globales han aumentado un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/climate-change-global-warming-faq.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 grados Fahrenheit<\/a>. En la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada se registr\u00f3 el clima mundial m\u00e1s c\u00e1lido de la historia. La mayor parte de este cambio puede atribuirse a los siguientes sectores:\n<ul>\n \t<li><strong>Generaci\u00f3n de electricidad y calor:<\/strong> La quema de combustibles f\u00f3siles, como el carb\u00f3n y el gas natural, para producir electricidad y calor supone <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2015\/08\/13\/opinions\/gallery\/top-climate-change-contributors\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">un tercero<\/a><\/span> de las emisiones mundiales de GEI.<\/li>\n \t<li><strong>Transporte:<\/strong> El sector del transporte representa la mayor parte de las emisiones de GEI (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/ghgemissions\/sources-greenhouse-gas-emissions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">29%<\/a><\/span><u>)<\/u>. Estas emisiones proceden principalmente de la combusti\u00f3n de gasolina y gas\u00f3leo.<\/li>\n \t<li><strong>Deforestaci\u00f3n:<\/strong> La tala de \u00e1rboles impide que \u00e9stos eliminen carbono de nuestra atm\u00f3sfera y provoca la liberaci\u00f3n del carbono que han almacenado durante su vida. La deforestaci\u00f3n provoca alrededor de <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rainforest-alliance.org\/articles\/relationship-between-deforestation-climate-change\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10% de emisiones globales<\/a><\/span>.<\/li>\n \t<li><strong>Agricultura:<\/strong> Las emisiones directas de la agricultura representan alrededor del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/agriculture\/ministerial\/background\/notes\/4_background_note.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">17%<\/span><\/a> de las emisiones mundiales. La agricultura genera indirectamente otras 7%-14% de emisiones a trav\u00e9s de la deforestaci\u00f3n y los cambios en el uso del suelo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\u00bfC\u00f3mo nos afecta el cambio clim\u00e1tico?<\/h2>\n<strong>Tiempo<\/strong>\n\nEl cambio clim\u00e1tico provoca cambios dr\u00e1sticos en los patrones meteorol\u00f3gicos globales, creando fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos. El calentamiento de la atm\u00f3sfera influye en la temperatura de la tierra, el agua y el nivel del mar. Comunidades enteras se ven desplazadas y deben ser reubicadas debido a estos fen\u00f3menos. Los fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos han desplazado <a href=\"https:\/\/wmo.int\/news\/media-centre\/climate-change-indicators-and-impacts-worsened-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">23,1 millones de personas<\/a> en todo el mundo cada a\u00f1o desde 2010.<\/p><p><strong>Riesgos sanitarios<\/strong><\/p><p>El cambio clim\u00e1tico contribuye a diversos riesgos para la salud humana y, seg\u00fan la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, se prev\u00e9 que provoque alrededor de 1.000 millones de muertes al a\u00f1o. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/climate-change\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">250.000 muertes adicionales<\/a> al a\u00f1o de aqu\u00ed a 2030. El aumento de las temperaturas y los cambios en las precipitaciones incrementan la prevalencia de enfermedades transmitidas por los alimentos y el agua, y de enfermedades transmitidas por insectos como la enfermedad de Lyme y la malaria. Las temperaturas m\u00e1s c\u00e1lidas del planeta tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n relacionadas con el aumento de la contaminaci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica, la prolongaci\u00f3n de las temporadas de alergias y el incremento del moho, que suelen desencadenar enfermedades respiratorias.<\/p><p><strong>Colapso de los ecosistemas<\/strong><\/p><p>El colapso de los ecosistemas debido al cambio clim\u00e1tico es evidente en todo el planeta, desde los arrecifes de coral hasta el \u00c1rtico, pasando por las selvas tropicales. Muchas plantas y animales se ver\u00e1n obligados a trasladarse a zonas con climas m\u00e1s adecuados o se enfrentar\u00e1n a la extinci\u00f3n. Esta migraci\u00f3n de ciertos animales puede alterar las cadenas alimentarias y provocar el colapso de ecosistemas delicados.<\/p><h2>\u00bfQu\u00e9 podemos hacer?<\/h2><p>Puedes reducir tu huella de carbono eligiendo medios de transporte sostenibles, reduciendo los residuos y comprando productos locales. Las comunidades pueden abogar por soluciones clim\u00e1ticas como <a href=\"https:\/\/mcecleanenergy.org\/es\/opt-up\/\">energ\u00eda renovable<\/a>agricultura sostenible y prohibici\u00f3n de pl\u00e1sticos de un solo uso. Las comunidades tambi\u00e9n pueden mejorar su resiliencia clim\u00e1tica prepar\u00e1ndose para acontecimientos relacionados con el clima. Muchas organizaciones de todo el mundo ya est\u00e1n luchando por estas soluciones clim\u00e1ticas.
