MCE and the City of Martinez\u00a0are celebrating\u00a0good\u00a0energy with the\u00a0unveiling\u00a0of a new mural!\u00a0On\u00a0Saturday,\u00a0March 7,\u00a02026\u00a0at 10\u00a0a.m., the wall\u00a0of the\u00a0<\/span>Boys & Girls Club of Martinez<\/span><\/a>, facing City Hall, will\u00a0feature\u00a0an\u00a0energy-inspired mural, sponsored by MCE.\u00a0This mural\u00a0acts as a\u00a0symbol of the deep connection between MCE and the\u00a0Martinez\u00a0community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

At the heart of this project is\u00a0a local\u00a0artist collective,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Illuminaries<\/span><\/a>. This\u00a0group\u00a0includes\u00a0local\u00a0street artists known for their vibrant, joyful murals that inspire youth and uplift public spaces. For the\u00a0Illuminaries, this project is personal. \u201cBeing from Martinez, it means so much to help shape the public appearance of our town and create a welcoming, fun environment for our kids,\u201d\u00a0Illuminaries\u00a0artist,\u00a0Tim Hon shared.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Boys & Girls Club of Martinez, a\u00a0cornerstone\u00a0of the community, is\u00a0the perfect canvas\u00a0for this collaboration. For decades, the Club has provided a safe,\u00a0supportive\u00a0space for local youth to learn, grow, and thrive. The mural will not only\u00a0enhance the\u00a0space\u2019s\u00a0beauty but also serve as a daily reminder of the Club\u2019s mission to\u00a0empower\u00a0young people\u00a0to succeed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why This Mural Matters\u00a0<\/h4>

This mural is more than a\u00a0beautiful work of art\u00a0\u2014\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a celebration of community, creativity, and collaboration. It\u00a0represents\u00a0the shared commitment of MCE, the City of Martinez, and the Boys & Girls Club to promote climate action, equity, and the power of art to bring people together.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

MCE\u2019s Commitment to Martinez\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>

MCE has proudly served Martinez since 2018, providing clean energy\u00a0solutions\u00a0and working with the\u00a0City\u00a0to create\u00a0an equitable\u00a0energy future for the community.\u00a0\u00a0Through this partnership, MCE has invested over $2.3 million in programs that directly\u00a0benefit\u00a0Martinez residents and businesses. These investments include\u00a0more than $485,000 in bill\u00a0savings through programs like MCE Cares Credit, over $450,000 to\u00a0electric vehicle\u00a0adoption\u00a0through charging stations and instant rebates, and more than $1.2 million in energy efficiency upgrades that help homes and businesses reduce their energy consumption and costs.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Together, MCE and Martinez are creating a more sustainable community while putting money back into the pockets of\u00a0residents.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

One notable project was the energy-efficient upgrades at a 32-unit multifamily property in partnership with Eden Housing and the Association for Energy Affordability. This mural is another step in MCE\u2019s ongoing commitment to fostering growth, wellness, and sustainability in Martinez.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
