SAN RAFAEL and CONCORD, Calif. — Three Bay Area environmental leaders have been recognized for their dedication to a cleaner, healthier future.

On April 17, 2025, MCE’s Board of Directors honored the three recipients of its annual Charles F. McGlashan Advocacy Awards, established in 2011 to commemorate the legacy of MCE’s founding Chairman, Charles F. McGlashan. The award recognizes local changemakers for their outstanding environmental leadership and commitment to building climate-ready communities.

This year’s honorees include:

  • The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce
  • RCF Connects
  • Andrew Bradley, Program Manager, City of St. Helena
MCE Board Member Shanelle Scales-Preston

“Our communities thrive when passionate leaders step up to advance clean energy and drive our future in sustainability. These honorees embody the spirit of environmental stewardship and inspire us to push forward in our fight against the climate crisis.”

The Concord Chamber of Commerce

The Concord Chamber of Commerce has been a champion of MCE’s Small Business Energy Advantage program, helping 47 businesses access free energy assessments and upgrades since its October 2024 launch, with nine projects completed.

“Helping local businesses embrace clean energy is a win for our economy and our environment. We’re proud to partner with MCE to bring cost-saving, energy-efficient solutions to our community.”

RCF Connects

RCF Connects has been a key partner in MCE’s Richmond Virtual Power Plant (VPP) pilot project, converting blighted properties into modern, energy-efficient affordable homes for first-time, lower-income buyers.

"Clean energy and equity go hand in hand. That's why we’ve invested over $19 million in advancing affordable homeownership, rental assistance, and emergency housing support, across Contra Costa County. Through our partnership with MCE, we’re turning vision into action—creating affordable, sustainable homes and uplifting communities in Richmond."

Andrew Bradley, Program Manager, City of St. Helena

Andrew Bradley significantly amplified MCE’s presence in St. Helena through a strategic co-branding initiative and EV advocacy, resulting in increased community education and engagement.

“Providing our community with access to clean energy resources is key to building a sustainable future. Working with MCE will make clean energy more accessible and actionable for our residents.”
