Bill Discounts

See if you’re eligible for a discount on your monthly energy bill.

MCE Cares Credit

If you’re enrolled in CARE or FERA, you may receive a $20 monthly discount, and small and medium-sized businesses may receive a $25 monthly discount on electricity bills.

California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE)

If you have qualifying income, you may receive a 38% discount on electricity and a 20% discount on natural gas.

Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA)

If you live in a household of three or more with qualifying incomes, you may receive an 18% discount on electricity.

Medical Baseline Allowance

If you have qualifying medical needs, you may receive additional gas and electricity allotments at the lowest available rate, plus notification in the event of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).

Bill Payment Assistance

If you’re having trouble paying your energy bill and have received late payment or shut-off notices, these programs can help.

Arrearage Management Plan (AMP)

If you’re enrolled in CARE or FERA and have an unpaid bill balance, you may receive up to $8,000 to help reduce your bill.

Relief for Energy Assistance through Community Help (REACH)

If you received a 15-day or 48-hour disconnection notice, are behind on paying your bill, or have been disconnected, you may receive an energy credit of up to $1,000 based on the past-due bill amount.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

A one-time payment per year (up to $1,500 in Contra Costa and Marin or up to $1,000 in Napa and Solano) may be available to help you pay your late energy bills, along with free energy-efficiency upgrades to lower your energy usage.
