Thinking about upgrading your stove? An induction cooktop is the perfect solution to improve your cooking experience and reduce your gas use.
Induction stoves use magnets to heat your pots and pans directly. This means the stovetop itself stays cool, but your food cooks faster and uses less energy. It’s also a safety feature for little hands!
Save Energy and Money
Induction stoves are one of the most efficient cooking appliances you can buy. They heat your pots and pans directly instead of heating up a burner first. This means you can boil water in about a minute, and your kitchen stays much cooler — which lowers your air conditioning bills in the summer and keeps you comfortable throughout the year.
Safety and Control Are Key
When you cook with induction, you’re not burning gas in your home. That means no harmful gases like carbon monoxide building up in your indoor air.
Induction stoves give you precise temperature control, just like professional restaurant kitchens. Unlike regular electric stoves that turn on and off repeatedly, induction provides steady, even heat. This means, you can say goodbye to burned sauces and unevenly cooked protein.
Safety is another big plus. There’s no open flame, and the stovetop stays cool to the touch, which means less risk of burns. Many induction stovetops turn off automatically if they detect a problem or if no pan is on the burner, giving you peace of mind.
Making the Switch
You’ll need to make sure your pots and pans are magnetic (test them with a fridge magnet). That small change is worth it for all the benefits.
Bringing Induction to Our Community
MCE brought these benefits to 32 families through our partnership with Eden Housing and the Association for Energy Affordability. Each apartment received new Copper induction cooktops and ovens that plug into regular outlets — no special wiring needed. These cooktops even have battery backup, so residents can keep cooking during power outages.
