8th Marin City Juneteenth Festival 2024

June 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

This year, the Marin City Juneteenth Festival theme is Umoja—a Swahili word meaning Unity, which is also the first principle of Kwanzaa, an African-American holiday. The sub-theme is “United, we are stronger. The MC Festival is the largest annual festival of Black African Arts and Culture in the North Bay Area. On this day, in solidarity, we uplift all cultures of the Noire International. Juneteenth has been recognized by many in Texas and other Black communities in the USA for decades.

Long before the federal government declared Juneteenth a national holiday, June 19th had become synonymous with the end of legalized enslavement of Africans in the United States, even though the Emancipation Proclamation was signed on Jan 1, 1863

The Marin City Festival is smaller than its Oakland and Berkley cousins. However, it is significant in its richness. Surrounded by beautiful nature, Rocky Graham Park welcomes families to slow down and relax.
