Increased bill relief runs through March 2027

SAN RAFAEL and CONCORD, Calif. — Residents and businesses choosing MCE service will receive a larger electricity bill credit to reduce costs from November 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. The rate credit increase extends relief through March 31, 2027, helping customers keep more money in their budgets.

John McCormick, MCE MCE Board Member representing Lafayette

“A lower electricity bill means more room in the budget to pay for everyday needs. This credit keeps more customer dollars in our communities, delivering relief when households and businesses need it most.”

This increased rate credit offers:

• More savings: The temporary credit increases from 0.62 cents to up to 3.725 cents per kilowatt-hour. Estimates show monthly bill reductions of about $14 for a residential customer using 410 kilowatt-hours and $38 for a small business using 1,100 kilowatt-hours. Actual savings vary by rate plan and electricity use.
• Relief through March: The increased credit applies across all customer rate plans for electricity used November 1, 2026, through March 31,

Alcides Hernandez, MCE’s Director of Rates

“Our goal is simple: help customers save. This increased rate credit is a practical way to deliver savings directly to homes and businesses this winter.”
