MCE collaborated with the City of Fairfield’s Waterman Treatment Plant to reduce their energy during demand response events.

Flex Market Programs

Compared to traditional energy efficiency programs, MCE’s Flex Market programs pay for the actual grid value of energy savings, resulting in more profits for your energy efficiency and load-shifting projects.

For demand response providers, MCE’s Peak Flex Market program pays you for shifting energy usage during demand response events from June 1–October 31 when the grid is most constrained. This program pairs well with demand response providers who can implement clean energy strategies, including:

Behavioral changes
Adjusting building or equipment controls
Discharging battery storage

Fossil-fuel technologies such as backup diesel generators or natural gas-fired solutions are not accepted.

What You’ll Get

Demand Response: Payment for energy load shedding or shifting during demand response events is valued at $2.00 per kWh.

MCE is a demand response provider

MCE also works directly with customers as a demand response provider for our Peak Flex Market program. We will help customers reduce their load and will pass incentives along to them.

Implement your strategies

Once we’ve determined eligibility, implement a wide range of clean energy strategies, including changing behaviors, adjusting building or equipment controls, and discharging battery storage to respond to demand response events. Diesel generators and natural gas-fired solutions are prohibited. MCE will notify you 24 hours in advance to prepare for the demand response event.

Receive your payments

We’ll measure your energy savings using meter data and analytics to accurately calculate your hourly energy savings and send you a check with your measured results after the season ends.
