Giving Credit Where Credit is Due

As a thank you for your commitment to renewable energy and actions to fight climate change, MCE is offering a Solar Storage Credit of up to $20 per month. To be eligible for the credit, you must have home solar, automate your battery to discharge from 4–9 p.m. daily, and set your battery reserve to no more than 20%, except when preparing for or during a power outage.

What You’ll Get

Green your wallet: You’ll save by using your free, stored solar instead of paying for peak-priced grid energy. Plus you’ll receive a $10 or $20 bill credit each month to save even more!
Green the planet: Reducing grid demand during peak times prevents the need to fire up polluting, fossil fuel plants and lowers their negative health and environmental impacts.
Green the grid: Use renewables when they are plentiful and switch to your battery during energy peaks to help make the grid more reliable for everyone.

Who’s Eligible

To participate, you must:

  • Be an MCE customer
  • Have solar connected to an energy storage system (battery) at your home
  • Automate your battery to discharge from 4–9 pm daily and set your battery reserve to no more than 20%, except when preparing for or during a power outage
  • Be enrolled in a Time-of-Use rate such as:

E-TOU-D (Peak Pricing 5–8 pm. Weekdays)

Yes, you can (and we encourage you to!) participate in other programs like OhmConnect that incentivize you to shift your electricity usage outside of peak times (e.g., 4–9 p.m.). These programs often send you useful reminders to reduce your usage to help prevent polluting, gas peaker plants from firing up.

Yes, you can participate in both. MCE Sync is a smart charging app to help EV drivers automate their EV charging at home to use the least expensive and cleanest energy on the grid. Our app’s Home Solar feature optimizes your solar to maximize your NEM credits to export solar during peak grid hours and uses your solar to charge your EV during off-peak hours to lower your electricity bill.
