Tamalpais Valley is the gateway to Muir Woods National Monument in Marin County. About 7,000 people live in this cozy wooded valley, which is located just 10 minutes North of the Golden Gate Bridge, between Sausalito and the City of Mill Valley. Residents range from former ranching families to high-tech executives working in San Francisco, and most were attracted to Tam Valley because of its beautiful scenery, great hiking, and proximity to the City.

Today, Tam Valley has an active environmentally conscious community. Tamalpais Community Services District (TCSD) is Tam Valley’s local government, which provides Sewer collection, Solid Waste collection, Parks and Recreation, and connections to other government services. It is similar in population to its neighbor, Sausalito, but with fewer daily visitors and fewer commercial establishments.

TCSD is proud to participate in MCE’s 100% Local Sol for all of its facilities.

TCSD values its partnership with MCE as a key part of fulfilling its environmental policies. TCSD is a certified green business and participates in the EPA’s Green Power Partnership. The District also offers robust recycling and pollution prevention programs to its residents, which are promoted through social media (such as NextDoor, Facebook, and other platforms), through a newsletter mailed 3-times per year, and through program-specific informational postcards. TCSD takes pride in using reusable dishware for its community dinner theatre and during larger events, such as summer Creekside Friday concerts, offers reusable beer and wine glasses, and selects environmentally preferable disposable serve-ware.

In the future, if TCSD is able to install electric vehicle charging stations, they will be powered by 100% Local Sol. TCSD is also investigating the possibility of purchasing electric refuse collection trucks, which would be powered by MCE’s 100% Local Sol.
