MCE schlägt eine höhere Gutschrift vor, um die Kundenkosten zu senken

MCE is proposing additional bill relief to help customers manage higher electricity costs. If approved by MCE’s Board of Directors, the temporary credit would increase and continue through March 31, 2027.

Why MCE introduced the credit

MCE first introduced the temporary credit on April 1, 2026, alongside a 14% reduction in MCE generation rates, to provide additional rate relief in response to rising electricity costs and affordability pressures affecting MCE customers.

Since then, updated budget projections have provided MCE with the ability to consider an increase in the credit. Increasing the credit would further support MCE’s commitment to promoting customer affordability by lowering customers’ monthly energy bills when financial conditions allow.

A temporary increase in the rate credit would directly provide more affordable rates, increase rate competitiveness between MCE and PG&E, and demonstrate a timely response to current market and financial conditions.

What is being proposed

  • A larger credit: If approved, the credit would increase from $0.0062 to up to $0.03725 per kilowatt-hour.
  • A longer credit period: If approved, the credit would remain in place through March 31, 2027.
  • Automatic savings: If approved, the updated credit would apply to electricity used beginning November 1, 2026. Customers would not need to enroll or take any action.

What this could mean for your bill

For an average residential customer using 410 kilowatt-hours per month on the E-TOU-C rate plan, the larger credit would provide about $ 14.21 in additional monthly savings. The proposal is expected to lower the total energy bill for an average home by about 10%.

Actual savings will vary based on your rate plan and how much electricity you use, but the credit is designed to make a meaningful difference while the PCIA remains high.

What happens next

MCE’s Board will consider the proposal at its Finance Committee meeting on September 24, 2026 and the full Board of Directors meeting on October 15, 2026. Customers can learn more at mceCleanEnergy.org/rates or share comments by emailing info@mceCleanEnergy.org or calling (888) 632-3674.
