SAN RAFAEL und CONCORD, Kalifornien. — As investor-owned utilities increase prices, MCE’s Board of Directors is offering bill relief for homes and businesses while keeping rates stable and lower than PG&E.
Bay Area residents most burdened by energy costs will receive a $20 monthly MCE Cares Credit through April 2025. Small businesses are eligible for a $25 monthly credit.
MCE’s Board approved $5 million for the MCE Cares Credit in March 2024 to lower electricity costs for historically underserved community members.

“No one should have to choose between feeding their family and keeping the lights on,” said Shanelle Scales-Preston, MCE’s Board Chair and City of Pittsburg Councilmember. “That’s why MCE is helping the most vulnerable folks in our community. Since 2020, we’ve provided $62 million in bill relief aimed at keeping our service more affordable and equitable, while being better for the planet.”
Roughly 12,500 income-qualifying households with past-due bills have been auto-enrolled and will see the monthly credit as of May. Almost 100,000 other income-eligible households and 27,500 small to medium businesses can now sign up for the credit, while funding is available.
Um sich zu qualifizieren, müssen Sie MCE-Dienstleistungen erhalten und entweder:
- A resident enrolled in California’s CARE/FERA energy discount programs, or
- A small business enrolled in A1 or B1 electricity rate.
People enrolled in the Programm zur Verwaltung von Zahlungsrückständen can pair the MCE Cares Credit to remove up to $8,000 in past-due debt while lowering their payments.
