SAN RAFAEL and CONCORD, Calif. — On November 21, local electricity provider, MCE, honored Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) with its 2024 Climate Action Leadership Award.
The award recognizes Senator Dodd’s unwavering commitment to the community choice energy movement and confronting climate change. As a leader on wildfire safety and prevention legislation, he has authored numerous bills to protect Californians from future fires and accompanying utility rate hikes.

“I believe in the power of our community to confront the stark challenges posed by our changing climate,” said Senator Dodd. “That’s why I have dedicated the last 25 years to working alongside my community, leading the way toward a climate-ready future.”
Before the Senate and Assembly, Sen. Dodd served 14 years on the Napa County Board of Supervisors. His accomplishments include completing Napa’s flood control project, which protects thousands of properties, the restoration of 900 acres of wetlands, and passing Senate Bill 852 aimed at addressing climate change through the creation of local resilience districts.

“When it comes to key players who are confronting climate change in our area, Senator Dodd is at the forefront," said Dawn Weisz, MCE's CEO. “At a time when high energy costs and climate change are top of mind for many Californians, Senator Dodd is championing an affordable, clean, and reliable energy future for all.”
In 2020, MCE created the Climate Action Leadership award to celebrate policymakers and advocates who have made bold contributions toward California’s fight against climate change through energy policy. The award is open to regulators, legislators, other policymakers, and stakeholders who have partnered with MCE to advance policies that benefit MCE’s communities and our planet.
Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) was MCE’s 2023 Climate Leadership Award recipient.
