SAN RAFAEL und CONCORD, Kalifornien - Local clean energy provider, MCE, is taking the first step toward pursuing full or partial ownership in turn-key clean energy projects providing 95-100% carbon-free energy. The agency is using a Request for Information process to solicit these projects. If any projects are selected through this process, MCE would become the first California community choice provider to have full or partial ownership in their power plants.

“Becoming a full or partial owner of energy generation resources can lower MCE’s costs, and that savings can be passed on to customers as lower bills or expanded programs,” said Dawn Weisz, MCE CEO. "These would be MCE's first owned or co-owned projects representing an exciting step toward our vision for a GHG free electricity environment, and our work to build a diverse portfolio of clean energy resources while creating clean jobs, reducing customer costs, and strengthening the reliability of our grid.”
MCE is seeking projects that are:
- New build, repower, or existing resources,
- Have a minimum full operational capability of 20-30 years,
- Between 20 and 500 megawatts, and
- Preferably located within MCE’s service area, within 100 miles of MCE’s service area, or within California.
All projects submitted for review must be fully operational or ready for construction and be submitted for consideration to MCE by March 3, 2023. Proposals can be submitted on MCE’s website and must include all proposal components as outlined in the Request for Information. Questions regarding the request may be directed to rfo@mceCleanEnergy.org.
