The following terms and conditions apply only to customers who have chosen to opt out after 60 days of service with MCE. Customers who have received MCE service for less than 60 days are exempt from these conditions for return to service and return to standard billing at the end of their current billing cycle.
Customers who opt out after receiving MCE service for more than 60 days are subject to payment of a one-time $5 (residential customers) or $25 (commercial customers) termination fee. Additionally, customers are subject to PG&E’s terms and conditions of service, described below, and are required by PG&E to choose one of the methods below in order to return to PG&E electric generation rates. PG&E rules prohibit customers who return to PG&E rates from switching providers again for twelve months.
By providing PG&E with a six-month advance notice that you intend to return to their service, you may be excluded from the above transitional rates. Customers selecting this option will be returned to PG&E six months after the end of their current billing cycle, following five business days from this request. At the conclusion of the six-month period, MCE generation charges will be replaced by PG&E’s standard, bundled rates.
Please Note: It may take up to five business days to process your opt-out request. The opt-out request must be processed by both MCE and PG&E. Your account will return to PG&E generation at the end of the billing cycle following the fifth business day. If your next billing cycle begins before MCE and PG&E are able to process your request, you may receive one additional month of generation services from MCE. PG&E will transfer your account only at the end of a billing cycle and cannot transfer your account in the middle of a billing cycle. You will be charged for all electricity procured by MCE on your behalf prior to the transfer of electric service to PG&E, after which PG&E rates will replace those of MCE.
